Celebrate 20 years of great sound with our 20 best ideas for Christmas

1.Tivoli PAL - $399 It's the most popular model in the Tivoli range and comes in a fantastic array of colours. It's weatherproof, has an inbuilt rechargeable battery and has the best reception in the range making it ideal in far flung locations. 2. Geneva Model S iPod speaker system - $649. Our coolest new product for the year - the quality of finish is stunning there are so many neat little design touches. These really are so much better in the flesh than any picture can suggest. And the sound quality is absolutely spot on. 3.Grado SR60i headphones - $199. The 'i' stands for improved and it's immediately apparent that the entry level Grados are impossible to beat for the money. The low impedance means they are easy to drive and will sound just great with iPods. Yep, they look all a bit retro but the sound is anything but. Well made, with spare pads and parts easily availble, these headphones will be around for many christmases to come.

4.Grado SR325i headphones - $659. If the entry level Grados sound good to you, wait till you wrap the latest version of the SR325i around your head. 6. Firestone Cute Beyond - $399. Why use a headphone amplifier? In some cases you may not have a choice as many systems don't include a headphone jack. But the overwhelming reason is that it sounds much much better. The new little Firestone is aptly named but conceals and very high quality Class A amplifier that really performs to a level far above the price.

7. Firestone Fubar IIIMk2 - $499. While it looks just like the Cute headphone amp, it's also got a USB connection and RCA outputs which makes it even more useful - just perfect as a serious audio addition to your computer but useful in a myriad of different situations. The Hocken Library just purchased 6 of these with Grado SR125is - what better recommendation could we give?

8. HRT Music streamers - from $250. For direct connection of your computer to your audio system via USB. We've found none better that the new Plus MK2' version of the HRT streamer. If I were starting to build a stero system again, this would be where I'd start. Nothing can touch the two models in terms of performance and value. More info.

9. Kimber Tonik - from $115. It's our 'do everything' interconnect cable because it can do nothing wrong. Perfectly balanced, free of noise and reliable in any system, it's a big step up from standard or mass market cables and carries a real pedigree. All the elements of Kimbers expertise are there - the ultra pure copper, braided constriction and proprietry plugs. 10. Tivoli Model 10. It's 20 years for us and 10 years for Tivoli. Celebrate both with their newest and best model to date - The Model 10 is a completely modern Tivoli, taking cues from the Networks internet Radio and the best selling PAL model. 15. Sonos Wireless iPod dock - $349. Yes - Sonos are doing things with iPods that you won't believe - just plug your iPod or iPhone in and it will automatically and wirelessly transmit to a Sonos speaker or amplifier in any room. Access all the songs and information on any Sonos Controller (including Touch, iPhone and iPad) with free software. Digital lossless transmission for uncompromised sound quality. makes other docks just look primitive. This is very, very cool. Here's a quick update.

16. SpinClean - $180. We've long been searching for a really good but economical way to clean records - The SpinClean system is made in the USA and works brilliantly, coming in a happy yellow container complete with fluid, brushes and wipes - check out the review. - We've also got the deluxe version in stock with extra fluids and wipes if you’re planning to spend a full wet day over christmas reviving your record collection.

17. Nagaoka anti static record sleeves - $65. Once you have clean records why would you put them back in the same scuzzy old paper sleeves? We've used the Nagaoka sleeves ourselves for over 20 years and have found none better. They eliminate static. don't bunch up and last forever. Care for your precious records at just $65 per pack of 50 sleeves.

18. Tivoli Model 3 $549.The classic clock radio is always a hit at christmas. It's simply the most civilised way to wake up in the morning, your best friend during the day and it will lull you to sleep in the evening.
